Admiral Spire

Admiral Spire is an Imperial Navy fleet commander, recalled from retirement, known for hunting Chaos ships in the void during the Gothic War. The void is the space between inhabited worlds, and it is there that Spire developed his methods of locating and engaging hostile vessels.

The Gothic War drew him back into service, and he was recalled again when Abaddon renewed the attempt. Spire has since served in later conflicts. These include cooperation with the Ynnari over a Spirit Gate held by the Thousand Sons. The Imperial Navy continues to call upon him because it requires an officer skilled in void engagements, which he treats as an exchange between opposing fleets conducted with weapons.

Battlefleet Gothic attributes several notable successes to Spire. Flag officers are not ordinarily commemorated as individuals, yet his reputation in the Gothic Sector has endured. His approach holds that the fleet remaining at the close of an engagement is the one that attended most closely to the enemy.
