Lelith Hesperax is Queen of Knives, Succubus of the Cult of Strife, the reason Commorragh's Crucibael still has a waiting list. She fights without drugs, without a helmet, and without the courtesy of letting a spectacle last longer than her interest.
Yvraine almost died under her in the arena and then became a prophet. Lelith later stood with that prophet, which is either boredom or a long game. Vect cannot quite own her. Wych Cults cannot quite replace her.
The Dark City runs on pain. Hesperax runs on being better at it than anyone still breathing, and on never needing to explain the difference.
