Yvraine

Yvraine is the Emissary of Ynnead, a Biel-Tan Aeldari revived as priestess of the Whispering God and leader of the Ynnari. She is also styled the Daughter of Shades and the Opener of the Seventh Way, and the movement she leads takes its name from the Aeldari god of the dead, whose worship she proclaims as a means of escaping the fate that Slaanesh holds for Aeldari souls. Born on Craftworld Biel-Tan, she is recorded as a dancer who walked every Path of the Aeldari before exile brought her to Commorragh, the Dark City of the Drukhari. Her career belongs to the late 41st Millennium, when the Ynnari emerged from the wider crisis of the Aeldari and the opening of the Great Rift.

Her rise begins with her death. Yvraine was killed in Lelith Hesperax’s arena during the Night of Revelations, and she returned as the priestess of Ynnead, bearing a Cronesword in a restored hand. This is the origin that her followers cite: she has already died once and found the death of use, and the Ynnari hold that the souls of the Aeldari need no longer be surrendered to the Great Enemy. Accounts of the resurrection differ in their detail, but all agree that it changed her from an exile into a figure around whom Craftworld, Commorragh and outcast Aeldari could gather.

Her principal deeds are tied to specific places. At Biel-Tan she broke the craftworld’s infinity circuit to bring about the Yncarne, the manifestation of Ynnead, and her movement is recorded as taking part in the defence of Iyanden. After the fall of Cadia she guided its survivors toward Ultramar, and on Macragge she assisted Belisarius Cawl in sitting Roboute Guilliman upright, an act that placed an Aeldari prophetess at the recovery of the Primarch of the Ultramarines. These events fall within the period of the Indomitus Crusade, so that her map presence, from Biel-Tan to Commorragh and from Iyanden to Macragge, runs alongside the wider Imperial response to the Rift.

Her relationships are mostly ones of enmity or of necessary alliance. Visarch, the Master of Blades, is her sworn protector and the leading warrior of the Ynnari. Asdrubael Vect, the Supreme Overlord of Commorragh, seeks her death, though he does not acknowledge it, and both Drazhar and Helbane have been hired to carry it out. Cawl and Guilliman are counted among her Imperial contacts rather than her allies in any formal sense, and Lelith Hesperax remains bound to her through the arena in which she fell. She is active in the current era. The fifth Cronesword remains missing, and she continues to search for it.
