Daemon occupation and Indomitus relief
The daemon occupation and Indomitus relief was the post-Rift period in which daemons held the cardinal world of Ophelia VII until relief forces broke it. The occupation followed assaults on the world’s defensive walls by daemons and by Night Lords. The relief forces belonged to the Indomitus era. Ophelia VII is the oldest cardinal world after Terra. It is the home of the Synod Ministra and the Convent Sanctorum, the institution through which Morvenn Vahl exercises authority over the Adepta Sororitas, the order commonly known as the Battle Sisters. The world came into contact with the Imperium during the Great Crusade. Benedin IV later moved the seat of the Ministorum, the Imperial ecclesiastical administration, from Terra to Ophelia VII, where it remained for three centuries and where cathedrals were built, until Greigor XI returned it to Terra. Since the Rift, daemons and Night Lords have each assaulted the world’s defensive walls. A daemon occupation followed, and the relief forces of the Indomitus era had to break it. The episode bears on a world of considerable standing within the Imperial ecclesiastical structure. The Adepta Sororitas divides its strength between Ophelia VII and Terra, an arrangement that prevents any single ruler from taking control of the order. Ophelia VII therefore holds a standing second only to Terra, both as a former seat of the Ministorum and as a centre of Sororitas authority.
