Saint Katherine
Founding Matriarch, Living Saint
Also known as Katherine Elysius, The Shield Bearer
Homeworld: Ophelia VII
Saint Katherine Elysius was a founding Matriarch, Dominica’s second, and the founder of the Order of the Fiery Heart. Known as the Shield Bearer, she carried the Praesidium Protectiva into the Throne room when the Brides of the Emperor learned the true nature of Vandire. Her hair turned white. She spent the remainder of her life giving the name of her Order literal effect.
Witch-cultists of Mnestteus killed her. The Order then renamed itself Our Martyred Lady, and mourning became central to its doctrine. Her golden plate and the Ardent Blade were held on Sanctus Lys for Celestine. Her corpse continues to be carried through war zones as a relic.
Katherine is a founding Matriarch who is also dead, and the Triumph is the living Sisters’ response to that fact. Her corpse serves as a standard against which other Sisters measure themselves.
