Night Lords assault on Nocturne
The Night Lords assault on Nocturne was an attack by Konrad Curze’s Night Lords on the Nocturne system during the Horus Heresy. Nocturne is the home world of the Salamanders Space Marines Chapter, and the assault brought the conflict of the Heresy to that world. Nocturne is a volcanic death world, a planet with a hostile environment, whose population lives in sanctuary cities. The Salamanders live among the planet’s tribes when not engaged in war. Vulkan rose on Nocturne as the world’s protector before the Emperor found him. The oversized moon Prometheus disturbs the planet through a recurring period known as the Time of Trial, and the Chapter’s fortress stands on Prometheus rather than on Nocturne itself. Against this setting, Konrad Curze’s Night Lords struck the system.
