Barthusa Narek

Barthusa Narek is a Colchisian Word Bearer and sniper of the XVII Legion who concluded that only the killing of his primarch, Lorgar, could save it. A primarch is the commander and genetic progenitor of a Legion, and Narek held his own in hatred.

Narek pursued the fulgurite and came into conflict with Grammaticus and Damon Prytanis on Macragge. He was imprisoned for the murder of Vulkan, of which he was innocent. Eldrad secured his release, judging that a sniper who hated his own primarch would prove a useful instrument. Together they destroyed the Cabal: Narek defeated Prytanis, killed him with fulgurite, and kept a shard as payment. He then resumed his place in the Legion as though the Heresy were still his allegiance.

During the invasion of Terra, Narek landed with the assault and killed the battle-brothers aboard his own drop-ship. He then sought Lorgar, who had already been banished from Horus’s war. In the final days of the Siege of Terra he was still pursuing that objective, which the course of events had displaced. His devotion, formed on Colchis, was directed against his primarch rather than towards him.
