Ouranberg
Ouranberg was a hive settlement of Verghast, drawn into the Chaos incursion that convulsed the planet during the Sabbat Worlds Crusade. Verghast, an industrial hive world counted among the Sabbat Worlds, is best remembered for the siege of Vervunhive; Ouranberg’s fall is recorded among the wider collapse of the planet’s hive settlements that fed into that defining battle, placing the settlement’s ruin in the same crusade years as Vervunhive’s ordeal. The offensive against Verghast was driven by forces of the Archenemy operating under the warlord Anakwanar Sek, who exploited cult corruption already seeded within the planet’s rival hive populations. Ouranberg, like other Verghastite settlements caught in the opening moves of the invasion, was overrun as the assault gathered pace; its people were killed, enslaved, or driven outward as refugees, swelling the columns that converged on Vervunhive and adding to the pressure the besieged city would soon face. Ouranberg’s loss is treated as one of the early casualties in a campaign whose survivors went on to reshape Verghast’s place in the wider crusade: the refugees and defenders who lived through the hive wars were later raised into Verghastite regiments, fighting alongside the Tanith First and Only in the Sabbat Worlds Crusade that followed. The settlement itself is not recorded as having been rebuilt to its former standing, and its fate stands chiefly as a marker of how far the Chaos incursion had spread across Verghast before Vervunhive made its stand.
