Mag’ladroth
The Void Dragon
Also known as The Void Dragon, The Dragon, The Dragon of Mars
Homeworld: Mars
Mag’ladroth, the Void Dragon, is a C’tan, or star-god, credited with mastery of matter and the making of warriors that did not break. The other C’tan regarded it as the least desirable of neighbours. When it fed on stars, it is described as taking the form of a cloud of dark light.
According to Eldar myth, the talismans of Vaul disclosed the secret by which the Void Dragon could be bound. The revolt of Szarekh later shattered it. A large remainder is widely held to lie dormant beneath Mars, in the Noctis Labyrinth. It is said that the Emperor defeated the Void Dragon before the Age of Strife and left it there as a trapped engine.
The prayers of the Adeptus Mechanicus may therefore be directed at a star-god, whether or not the priesthood accepts that description. Unlike the Nightbringer, another C’tan fragment, no comparable shard of Mag’ladroth is known to take the field. The absence of such a fragment is better understood as a delay than as a reassurance.
