Ipluvien Maximal

Ipluvien Maximal was a loyalist magos of Mars who died detonating reactors in his district to keep it from traitor forges during the Schism. He served as a priest of the Noosphere and remained opposed to Kelbor-Hal, whose faction was taking control of the planet.

Maximal resisted the Schism through data-laws and reactor overrides rather than through the use of Titans. When the traitor forges closed on his district, he detonated its reactors and was killed in the explosion. He had decided that, if Mars was to fall to Kelbor-Hal, it would not fall intact.

His death removed a defender from the Noosphere and denied the traitors a city block they had already counted as theirs. The Schism did not make him a saint; he is remembered instead through a crater that bears his name. The act stands as an example of Mechanicus loyalism carried to its conclusion, in which annihilation was preferred to capture, at a time when the priesthood of Mars had already divided.
