Sota-Nul

Sota-Nul was a Martian Dark Mechanicum priest and one of the Nine Disciples of Kelbor-Hal, active during the Horus Heresy. She is recorded as having been engineered chiefly as an armed instrument rather than as a student, a cybernetic weapon in the service of the Fabricator-General. She adopted an arachnid body fitted with multiple limbs. Among the Disciples she is associated with the application of Mechanicum technology to war, and her place in the Dark Mechanicum is best understood alongside Kelbor-Hal’s wider break with the Mechanicum loyal to the Emperor.

Her service is tied to three settings: Mars, Tallarn and Terra. On Mars, the Red Planet and the seat of the Cult Mechanicus, she took part in the blockade that followed Kelbor-Hal’s declaration for the Warmaster. Later she is placed at the conflict on Tallarn and at the Siege of Terra, where the Dark Mechanicum fielded engines and weapons alongside the traitor Legions. In each theatre she is described as treating the engagement as a field test, an approach consistent with the Dark Mechanicum’s pursuit of forbidden and experimental war-machines. Accounts differ on the extent of her personal command in any single battle, and the record is stronger on her methods than on her individual engagements.

Sota-Nul is also associated with the traitor noosphere, the wireless informational network used by her faction. She is credited with systematising its operations into an expansive military industry, so that communication, logistics and production served one sustained war effort. Kelbor-Hal conceived the Nine Disciples as enduring ideological instruments, and she is recorded as outliving most contemporary Martian constructs by passing through successive chassis and patrons. She ultimately exhausted both her physical bodies and her political support, and she is held to have been destroyed before the Indomitus Millennium.
