Zagreus Kane was Fabricator Locum of Mars, master of Mondus Occulum, the loyalist counterweight to Kelbor-Hal when the Red Planet decided the Omnissiah had two faces. Sigismund came for guns and plate. Kane emptied his forges into Imperial Fist holds and got enough of the Mechanicum off-world to keep Terra armed while Olympus Mons burned for Horus.
He took the title Fabricator-General of a Mechanicum in exile, then of a Mars retaken in pieces. The Schism did not end because Kane was clever. It ended because he treated loyalty as a supply problem: who still made ammunition, who still answered Terra.
He oversaw the ugly conversion of that wartime priesthood into the Adeptus Mechanicus. Kelbor-Hal got the Dark Mechanicum and a myth. Kane got the paperwork and a seat no one envied. The Imperium still runs on his half of the split.
