Astorath the Grim is High Chaplain of the Blood Angels and Redeemer of the Lost, the priest who follows the Death Company into places Dante would rather not have to see. His axe is for brothers who cannot come back from the Rage, and he does not pretend otherwise.
Successor Chapters call him when the Black Rage has taken someone too valuable to waste and too far gone to save. He fought through the Devastation of Baal and still walks the same circuit of last rites. The wings are a warning, not a pageant.
The Redeemer does not enjoy the work. That is why the Chapter still trusts him with it. A mercy-killer who liked the job would be a different kind of problem.
