Nassir Amit, the Flesh Tearer, captained the Blood Angels Fifth in the style the Legion used before Sanguinius taught it manners. He survived Signus when lesser tempers became meals, and he survived Terra with a reputation his own brothers flinched from. Baal put the angel in him. Amit kept the teeth.
After the Heresy he took that appetite into a Chapter of his own rather than pretending the Codex could diet it away. The Flesh Tearers still wear the nickname like a warning label. He was not a villain to his primarch. He was the reminder that the red thirst had a preferred officer.
Later millennia inherited the Chapter and the problem. Amit is the source code. Everything after is a patch.
