Erasmus Tycho was Captain of the Blood Angels 3rd Company, Dante's likely heir until an Ork witch on Armageddon froze half his face into a grin the Chapter could not bear to look at. The mask came after. The hatred of greenskins never left.
He fought through a second Armageddon, through Taladorn, through a hive fleet that made the Sanguinary Priesthood question his sanity. In the Third War the Chaplains saw Sanguinius' last fight in his eyes and put him in the Death Company. He died taking Hive Tempestora's walls apart.
The Dead Man's Hand is still a relic. The lesson is that even the best of them are not immune.
