Zephon

Zephon is a Chaplain of the Blood Angels Legion, remembered for his defence of the Imperial Palace’s outer walls during the Siege of Terra. He was not of the Blood Angels’ higher bloodlines or the Sanguinary Guard, but a legionary of common origin whose intensity of faith set him apart among his brothers.

During the opening assaults on Terra, Zephon fought within the improvised garrison thrown together to hold the Palace’s outer defences as the Warmaster’s host broke against the approaches to the Imperial seat. Accounts describe him as consumed by doubt over whether his conduct and belief could ever measure against the example of Sanguinius, a torment he treated less as weakness than as a spur to hold his ground alongside Blood Angels brothers and the mixed remnants of other Legiones Astartes detachments thrown into the same defence. His bearing in the fighting, and his insistence on measuring himself against his primarch’s ideal, marked him out among defenders drawn from many Legions and commands.

Zephon’s stand is remembered as part of the earliest and costliest fighting of the Siege of Terra, alongside the mixed garrison of Legiones Astartes survivors who held the Palace’s outer line before the war moved to the walls beyond. He stands as a contemporary of the Blood Angels commanders and allied officers who organised Terra’s defence in the opening phase of the siege, c. 014.M31, and later tradition holds that his devotion was recognised within the Blood Angels’ Chaplaincy, though the fuller course of his life after the Siege is not established.
