Nasir Amit

Nasir Amit was a Blood Angels Chaplain of the Horus Heresy era, remembered as a forerunner of the Flesh Tearers Chapter’s afflicted gene-line.

Amit served within the Blood Angels Legion during the era of the Horus Heresy, holding the office of Chaplain and thereby taking responsibility for the spiritual and disciplinary welfare of his battle-brothers. Accounts of the Legion’s campaigns record that Amit was among the more severely afflicted by the twin curses carried in the Blood Angels’ gene-seed: the Red Thirst, a craving for blood, and the Black Rage, a psychic inheritance from the Primarch Sanguinius that could overwhelm a bearer’s reason in battle. His affliction is associated in later tradition with the Signus campaign, a period in which the Legion’s inherited flaws grew markedly more pronounced among its ranks.

Amit’s standing in the history of the Blood Angels derives less from a single recorded deed than from his later association with the Flesh Tearers, a Chapter created in the Second Founding whose gene-line is held to express the Black Rage and Red Thirst with unusual severity. Later tradition holds Amit to be a progenitor figure for that Chapter’s lineage, his case cited as an early and pronounced instance of the affliction the Flesh Tearers would come to embody. He is not recorded as having held high Legion command, and detailed accounts of his eventual fate are not established with certainty.
