Kairos Fateweaver
Oracle of Tzeentch, Vizier of Tzeentch
Also known as Fateweaver, Oracle of Tzeentch
Kairos Fateweaver is a two-headed Lord of Change who serves Tzeentch as oracle and vizier, one head speaking only truth, the other only falsehood. He is recorded as a singular being among the Changer of Ways’ greater daemons: hurled again and again into the Well of Eternity, the roiling source of Chaos from which Lords of Change are born, until a single body could no longer contain the fates poured into him. What remained fused into one hunched, ancient form bearing two heads on twin necks, each attending a different thread of possibility, and neither able to speak anything but its own truth or its own lie.
As Oracle, Kairos answers petitioners in riddles that resemble plans and plans that resemble riddles, for Tzeentch’s purposes are served as readily by confusion as by counsel. Tzeentch seldom releases him into realspace, the material universe; when he does, Kairos arrives already aware of how the coming battle will unfold, his foresight a weapon in itself. That same gift is also his limit, for should events diverge from the future he was shown, he withdraws rather than fight blind, unwilling to act against a fate he has not already read. He is not a prophet for hire by mortal champions; both of his heads, truthful and false alike, remain instruments of a single master’s design.
Kairos’s foresight has made him a recurring instrument of Chaos’s higher schemes rather than a battlefield regular, and the Grey Knights catalogue him among the threats named in their Conclave Diabolus. During the Terran Crusade, Abaddon the Despoiler drew on Kairos’s power to bind Roboute Guilliman within a shifting psychic cage, a confinement unpicked only when Cypher and a Harlequin combined their skills against it. The episode is one of the few occasions his name is attached to a dated, named event at Terra rather than to the general legend of Tzeentch’s servants, giving the Oracle of Tzeentch a clear place on the Terran Crusade timeline alongside Abaddon, Guilliman, Cypher, and the Harlequin who freed the Primarch.
Beyond such borrowed appearances, little is recorded of Kairos acting on his own initiative; he exists to serve Tzeentch’s schemes rather than to pursue ambitions of his own, and accounts of him describe function more than personal history. What is consistent across those accounts is his singularity: unlike the many nameless Lords of Change that flock to Tzeentch’s banner, Kairos is one being, two heads bound to a single fate, released by his god only when the game is judged worth the risk of losing so valuable a seer.
