Alajos

Alajos was the Master of the Ninth Order of the Dark Angels, a paladin of Caliban killed by Sevatar at the Tsagualsa parley with Konrad Curze. He belonged to the Legion’s Caliban-born knightly tradition, in which the Orders were led by Masters of proven martial standing. His title places him among the senior commanders who served under the Lion during the Horus Heresy era, although his own rise through the Orders is not recorded in detail.

Within the Order, Alajos served as a measure of martial skill. A warrior who could not defeat him in the sparring circles was not yet of paladin standard, while one who could was held to be comparable to Corswain. His only regular defeats are recorded as coming from Corswain and Astelan, which places him among the foremost swordsmen of the Legion. This reputation is the reason the Lion is said to have chosen him for his honour guard at Tsagualsa, since a meeting with Curze was not expected to remain peaceful.

The parley at Tsagualsa is the only engagement in which Alajos is attested. When the meeting became a brawl, Sevatar of the Night Lords beheaded him. Shang and Corswain were both involved in the fighting that followed. Caliban does not list Tsagualsa among its knightly victories, and the loss of a Master is the aspect of the encounter with the clearest lasting consequences. After Alajos’s death, Corswain, styled the Hound of Caliban, inherited his campaigns, and the Ninth Order was left without a Master. On the Orrery map, Alajos is anchored to Caliban as his home world and to Tsagualsa as the place of his death. On the timeline, he belongs to the Dark Angels’ Horus Heresy-era record, alongside Corswain, Astelan and Shang among his contemporaries, and Curze and Sevatar as the Night Lords figures who met him.
