Mabbon Etogaur

Etogaur, Blood Pact defector

Also known as Mabbon, Etogaur Mabbon

Mabbon Etogaur was a Blood Pact officer whose defection drew him into Inquisitor Gideon Ravenor’s investigations on Eustis Majoris and Gudrun. His rank, etogaur, marks him as a field commander within the Blood Pact hierarchy that the Archenemy raised from the war zones of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade; consistent with that cult’s practice of erasing recruits’ former identities, no homeworld or pre-Pact history is recorded for him. What survived his defection was expertise in Sabbat-Worlds drill and Chaos troop craft, knowledge that made him valuable to those who could make use of it and dangerous to those who could not.

Mabbon entered Ravenor’s orbit indirectly, through the tangled contracts of the information broker Orfeo Culzean and the criminal-intelligence network known as the Fratery knot. Ravenor’s warband did not treat him as a simple captive: he was held as prisoner, worked as a source, and watched as a blade that might turn in any direction. That triple status defined his time in Imperial custody more than any single allegiance did, and it shaped how the warband weighed each piece of intelligence he offered.

The intelligence he carried had immediate use in the Cognitae-adjacent operations Ravenor pursued on Eustis Majoris and later on Gudrun, where his first-hand knowledge of Blood Pact methods helped the warband read threats that generic Imperial doctrine could not anticipate. Culzean, and later the renegade Konrad Molotch, each recognised the value of that ambiguity and worked to bend Mabbon’s position to their own ends, drawing him deeper into the Helican and Scarus sector intrigue that Ravenor’s cell was already unravelling.

Mabbon is recorded as having died in the course of this entanglement, but his death did not resolve the question his presence had raised throughout: whether a Blood Pact officer who had walked so far from his cult could be called, without qualification, a traitor. Among the named Pact officers to cross into Imperial service during this period, he remains the one whose record refuses the simple version of that story.
