Doctor Belknap

Doctor Belknap is a chirurgeon serving within Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn’s retinue, as recorded in the Eisenhorn series.

Belknap joins Eisenhorn’s band of retained specialists, individuals recruited for particular skills in support of the Inquisitor’s investigations across and beyond the Scarus Sector. His principal function within the retinue is medical: treating injuries sustained by its members in the course of their duties and providing care under conditions of frequent danger and secrecy. Accounts of the series describe him forming a close personal bond with Alizebeth Bequin, a former thief drawn into Eisenhorn’s service who becomes a ward and later a trusted associate; this relationship is presented as a significant element of the retinue’s internal dynamics, with Queen Mab, the hive city on Gudrun that serves as a base for Eisenhorn’s circle, figuring as a setting associated with these characters.
