Rynn’s World Invasion
The Rynn’s World Invasion was a 999.M41 Ork assault on the Crimson Fists Chapter’s home world, led by Warboss Snagrod’s Waaagh!. Rynn’s World held the Crimson Fists’ fortress-monastery and its principal recruiting ground, making the world’s defence inseparable from the Chapter’s own survival. The invasion is remembered as one of the gravest trials any Space Marine Chapter is recorded to have faced in the late 41st millennium, and it drew the attention of the wider Adeptus Astartes and the Adeptus Terra once its scale became clear. Snagrod’s Waaagh! fell upon the system with a speed that gave the Crimson Fists little warning, and accounts hold that the Chapter’s battle fleet was caught and largely destroyed in orbit before a proper defence could be mounted, along with a significant part of the Chapter’s strength and its serving Chapter Master. The surviving Crimson Fists, rallied under Captain Pedro Kantor, withdrew into the fortified hive city that housed the Chapter’s armouries and manufactoria, and there withstood a prolonged ground siege by Snagrod’s Orks even as their numbers dwindled. The defenders held the line until Imperial reinforcements, drawn from allied forces answering the Chapter’s distress call, arrived to break the siege and drive the greenskins from Rynn’s World. The invasion left the Crimson Fists reduced to a remnant of their former strength and Rynn’s World scarred by the fighting, forcing the Chapter into a long and difficult rebuilding that shaped its fortunes for decades afterward, including its later dealings with the wider Astartes during the unrest of the Badab War. Pedro Kantor’s leadership during the siege marked him as the Chapter’s foremost hero and its eventual Chapter Master. In the present era Rynn’s World stands restored as the Crimson Fists’ fortress world, its defences and garrison a standing memorial to Snagrod’s Waaagh! and the price of holding the line against it.
