Ullanor

Ullanor was the capital world of the ork empire of Urlakk Urg and the site of the Triumph at which the Emperor named Horus Warmaster. It is recorded as the largest ork realm the Imperium met during the Great Crusade. Its capital, Ullanor Prime, was the seat of the warlord Urlakk Urg, whose rule extended over many neighbouring systems.

The Ullanor Crusade was directed against that empire, and Horus, then commander of the Luna Wolves, is credited with breaking the world’s ork rule. Other Legions and Primarchs are recorded as taking part, though accounts differ on the exact order of battle. The Emperor then staged the Triumph of Ullanor to mark the victory. There he conferred on Horus the title of Warmaster, giving him supreme military command of the Imperium’s expeditionary forces beneath the Emperor himself. The Luna Wolves were afterwards renamed the Sons of Horus. The title later became central to the events of the Horus Heresy.

The world did not stay quiet. The ork warlord known as the Beast later converted the planet into Gorkogrod. During the War of the Beast, the Primarch Vulkan is recorded as having died fighting there. The Adeptus Mechanicus then teleported the world in secret rather than burn it. Later maps treat the relocated mass as Armageddon, though the connection rests on that later reading and not on any surviving contemporary account.

On the site’s space–time graph, the Triumph binds Ullanor to Terra, since the elevation of Horus Lupercal as Warmaster is anchored there, with the Emperor as the other principal figure. Its contemporaries in that window are the Luna Wolves (Sons of Horus) and the ork empire of Urlakk Urg. The War of the Beast ties the same mass to Vulkan and to the Mechanicus’s relocation, and through it to Armageddon. The graph nonetheless keeps Ullanor and Armageddon as separate identifiers rather than merging them. In the present era Ullanor is not charted as a distinct world, and its status is bound up with the Armageddon tradition.
