The Beast (Waaagh! of M32)

The Beast was a group of Prime-Orks from Ullanor who led the largest Waaagh the Imperium has measured, in the thirty-second millennium (M32). The name refers not to a single Ork but to a set of Prime-Orks, each the size of a habitation block and able to speak Gothic well enough to gloat. The Waaagh, an Ork mass offensive, included attack moons positioned over Terra.

Vulkan died while killing one of the Beasts, and Koorland died in the next attempt. Maximus Thane ended the Beast of Beasts by means of a reverse-Waaagh ritual, the full cost of which fell on the Sisters of Silence. The Imperium afterwards displayed a considerably smaller corpse to the public, a deliberate act of policy.

Ghazghkull is now the customary point of comparison for Ork leadership, but in M32 no comparable figure existed. Ullanor was the capital of a greenskin empire that came close to ending the Imperial calendar. The Beast therefore stands as the largest Waaagh on the Imperium’s record.
