Bohemond

Bohemond was a Marshal of the Black Templars who helped reunite the Imperial Fists successor Chapters during the War of the Beast in the 32nd Millennium. The Black Templars are a loyalist Space Marine Chapter of the Imperium of Man, descended from the Imperial Fists Legion and organised as a crusading fleet without a fixed homeworld. Bohemond appears in Imperial command lists of the war under the rank of Marshal, and some listings give him the higher style of High Marshal. Nothing is recorded here of his birth, recruitment or earlier service.

The War of the Beast, dated to 544–546.M32, began with the destruction of the Imperial Fists on Ardamantua and the arrival of Ork Attack Moons in Segmentum Solar. While the High Lords of Terra remained divided, Bohemond is recorded as undertaking a quest to gather the scattered Imperial Fists successor Chapters. At Eidolica, seat of the Fists Exemplar, he arrived with a fleet after the Chapter had lost its Chapter Master and First Captain, and he persuaded the surviving Second Captain, Maximus Thane, that the world could not be held. The survivors were evacuated. Representatives of the Black Templars, Crimson Fists, Fists Exemplar and Excoriators then met Koorland, the last surviving Imperial Fist, in the Phall System, where the “Last Wall” protocol was settled. Its purpose was to reunite the successor Chapters as a single force should Terra itself be threatened, and the Iron Knights also answered the call.

Bohemond’s significance lies in this diplomatic and logistical role, which links Eidolica, Phall and Terra in one sequence and shows the Black Templars acting as a fleet-borne rallying force for the wider Imperial Fists inheritance. His contemporaries in these events include Koorland, Maximus Thane, Drakan Vangorich, Lord High Admiral Lansung and Warsmith Kalkator of the Iron Warriors. The war ended with the invasion of Ullanor and the death of the Beast, at heavy cost to the Adeptus Astartes. Bohemond is listed among the Imperial commanders of the war as a whole, but his individual part in its final battles and his fate afterwards are not clearly recorded, so his status in the current era is given as unknown.
