Bronislaw Czevak

High Inquisitor

Also known as High Inquisitor Czevak, Czevak

Bronislaw Czevak is a High Inquisitor of the Ordo Xenos who stole the Atlas Infernal from a hidden Webway archive and is pursued by Ahriman. The Ordo Xenos is the branch of the Inquisition concerned with alien threats and the secrets that surround them, and Czevak’s theft has made him one of the most sought-after fugitives to have emerged from its ranks.

Czevak served the Inquisition for some four centuries before he vanished on Darcturus. He is recorded as having entered the Webway archive, where he mapped paths through the Webway that the Inquisition is not cleared to know, and as having escaped with the help of a pariah, carrying the Atlas Infernal with him. Accounts differ on how much of the archive he was able to read before his flight. The pursuit began at once: Ahriman of the Thousand Sons wanted him alive, and the Harlequins wanted him returned to captivity, and both have sought him since. His movements are tied to the Webway’s hidden routes and, in some accounts, to Terra, where the Imperium’s own records of such matters are held.

The Atlas allows Czevak to circumvent ordinary geography, but it has not gained him the favour of the Black Council. Most Inquisitors accumulate xenos secrets over a lifetime of service; Czevak obtained the index to them, and has since remained in flight so that no other party can read it. His status in the current era is active and at large. His position among the Inquisition’s High Inquisitors, and the standing of the Ordo Xenos in the wider Long War against xenos and Chaos powers, mean that his fate bears on how far the Webway’s secrets travel.
