Uber Aemos

Uber Aemos was Eisenhorn’s savant, a data-addict whose memory retained and connected very large quantities of information. His brain had been opened many times, and he treated the universe as a filing error that he could still correct. He remembered everything, linked a great deal of it together, and required a continual supply of new facts.

He accompanied Eisenhorn from Hubris through the Pontius Glaw years, the Necroteuch, and Eisenhorn’s gradual descent into radicalism. In that time he supplied the item of information that allowed a case to be closed. When the work eventually demanded more than a human mind could hold, he gave the remainder regardless.

Inquisitors can replace soldiers, but they did not replace Aemos, who held four centuries of files in memory and still asked for one more page.
