Uber Aemos

Uber Aemos was Eisenhorn's savant, a data-addict whose brain had been opened so many times it treated the universe as a filing error it could still correct. He remembered everything, connected too much of it, and needed the next fact the way other men need air.

He followed Eisenhorn from Hubris through the Pontius Glaw years, the Necroteuch, and the long fall into radicalism, supplying the piece of trivia that made a case close. When the work finally asked more than a human skull could hold, he gave the rest anyway.

Inquisitors replace soldiers. They do not replace the man who could hold four centuries of files in his head and still ask for one more page.
