Draco

Jaq Draco is an Inquisitor of the Ordo Xenos, the branch of the Imperial Inquisition charged with combating alien threats to the Imperium. He is recorded as a veteran agent of the Inquisition in the forty-first millennium, best known under the style Inquisitor Draco, and he is distinguished chiefly by the length of his service and by his place in a conflict that divided Inquisitorial authority.

The Inquisition operates as a secretive body answerable in practice to individual Lords and conclaves, and its Ordos frequently disagree over methods and jurisdiction. Draco’s career is placed within one such dispute, in which his pursuit of xenos and heretical threats brought him into opposition with other Inquisitors and put him at odds with parts of his own organisation. Accounts differ on the detail of his early life, his homeworld and his individual campaigns, and this entry does not supply particulars that are not firmly established. The struggle is associated with Terra, the seat of the Imperium, where the Inquisition’s highest councils are held and where questions of authority within the Inquisition carry the greatest weight.

Draco is significant as an example of how the Ordo Xenos operated independently of Imperial Navy and Adeptus Terra command, and how quarrels between Inquisitors could shape events across several systems. His status is given as unknown, since his final fate is not recorded with certainty. His contemporaries are the other Inquisitors of the Ordo Xenos, the Ordo Malleus and the Ordo Hereticus active in the same period, together with the agents and Imperial officials who served or opposed him.
