Torgaddon

Tarik Torgaddon was a captain of the Luna Wolves Legion and a member of Horus’s Mournival, killed during the Isstvan III atrocity. He served the Legion during the Great Crusade, when it was still known by its original name, and held the confidence of Horus, the Warmaster. His standing among the senior captains earned him a seat in the Mournival, the informal council of Horus’s closest Astartes officers.

Torgaddon is recorded as one of the four members of the Mournival, alongside Ezekyle Abaddon, Horus Aximand and Garviel Loken, who took the place of Hastur Sejanus. His closest bond within that circle was with Loken, and the two are usually presented as the Mournival’s most candid counsellors to Horus. As the Legion’s renaming to the Sons of Horus and the corrupting influence of Chaos took hold, Torgaddon’s loyalty to the Emperor’s cause set him apart from the captains who followed Horus into rebellion. When Horus’s rebellion was declared, he was among the Astartes present on Isstvan III, where the Legion’s loyalists were identified and destroyed.

Torgaddon died on Isstvan III during the Isstvan III atrocity, the first act of open violence in the Horus Heresy, when the Warmaster’s forces turned on the loyalist element of the Sons of Horus and other Legions’ contingents. His death, alongside Loken’s survival, marks the point at which the Mournival ceased to function as a council and divided along the lines of the Heresy. On the Orrery map and timeline he is anchored to Isstvan III at the outbreak of the Heresy, with Loken, Abaddon, Aximand and Horus as his principal contemporaries.
