Kyril Sindermann

Kyril Sindermann served as primary iterator of the Sixty-Third Expedition, the orator entrusted with proclaiming the Imperial Truth under Horus’s command. A Terran-born civilian rather than a soldier, he held no rank within the Expedition’s military hierarchy; his authority rested instead on rhetoric, and Horus valued him as the voice that could render the Great Crusade intelligible and righteous to conquered world and Imperial citizen alike. Sindermann mentored the remembrancer Ignace Karkasy and worked alongside Euphrati Keeler and Mersadie Oliton, whose documentary and pictorial records of the Expedition he helped shape into testimony for the Imperial Truth. It was on the world later known as Sixty-Three Nineteen that early drafts of that doctrine first reached an audience, before the world’s name entered Imperial record for darker reasons.

His certainty broke in the Whisperhead Mountains of that same world, where a daemonic presence — later understood as evidence of the corruption already spreading through Horus’s inner circle — caused his prepared oration to collapse before its audience. The failure marked the start of Sindermann’s disillusionment with the creed he had spent his career composing. When the Warmaster’s treachery was exposed at Isstvan III, Sindermann fled the massacre aboard the escape frigate Eisenstein, sheltering with Keeler, Oliton, and the Death Guard captain Nathaniel Garro as the vessel raced for Terra to warn the Emperor of Horus’s betrayal — a voyage that placed the former sceptic of faith beside Keeler’s first visions of the Emperor as a divine figure.

In later records his work is filed under the Inquisitorial name Veritus, and he is recorded as having helped found the Holy Ordos of the Imperium in the Heresy’s aftermath, turning on the nascent Inquisition the same forensic scrutiny he had once applied to Imperial propaganda. Sustained across centuries by rejuvenat treatment, he is remembered as a mentor to younger inquisitors within the ordos he helped establish, passing on the hard-won conclusion that atheism is a condition of the battlefield — a position argued rather than innate, and abandoned wherever daemons or saints made themselves undeniable. He spent the remainder of a long life writing commentary on that conclusion, closing a career that had begun by explaining away the very powers he came to catalogue.
