Solomon Demeter
Captain of the 2nd Company
Also known as Captain Demeter
Homeworld: Chemos
Solomon Demeter captained the Emperor's Children's Second and still believed the Legion's honour was a real thing on Isstvan III. He held the Precentor's Palace waiting for Lucius. The brother who arrived had already chosen a different kind of perfection, and Demeter died learning that the Phoenician's sons no longer owed each other the courtesy of a fair fight.
He was the loyalist the Third Legion could not quite laugh off: too competent to be a token, too earnest to survive the virus-bombing's aftermath. While Fulgrim's court rehearsed atrocity in orbit, Demeter kept a palace because that is what captains do when the map still says the city is theirs.
Lucius took the kill and the story. Chemos does not put up statues for men who believed the old rules. Isstvan III is full of that kind of grave. Demeter's is just the one with a first-captain's rival standing over it.
