Indomitus Crusade Fleet Secundus
The Indomitus Crusade Fleet Secundus is one of the numbered battle fleets dispatched from Terra as part of the wider Indomitus Crusade. Assembled in the aftermath of the Cicatrix Maledictum’s opening and Roboute Guilliman’s return, the fleet drew on the newly raised Primaris Space Marines of the Ultima Founding alongside elements of the Adeptus Astartes, Astra Militarum, and Imperial Navy. Its mandate, shared with its sister fleets, was to carry reinforcement and relief to Imperium worlds isolated or besieged by the Great Rift’s sundering of the galaxy in two, extending the Imperium’s reach into the fractured territories later known as Imperium Nihilus. Fleet Secundus is recorded as operating along the contested edge of Imperium Nihilus, pressing through regions where astropathic contact with Terra had been severed and where Chaos incursions, ork raids, and xenos predators exploited the Imperium’s disorder. Accounts of its specific engagements remain fragmentary beyond the fleet’s broad mandate, in keeping with the scattered and often incomplete record-keeping of a crusade fought across a galaxy in crisis. Its passage nonetheless forms part of the wider Indomitus Crusade’s chronicle, a campaign still regarded as one of the pivotal military undertakings of the era following the Rift’s opening. Fleet Secundus shares its origin and purpose with the other numbered fleets of the Indomitus Crusade, all answering to Guilliman’s strategic direction from Terra and contributing to the broader project of stabilising the Imperium during the Era Indomitus. Its status in the present era remains that of an ongoing crusade force, its full record of victories and losses not fully chronicled. As with the Indomitus Crusade itself, Fleet Secundus is best understood in relation to Terra as its point of departure, the Great Rift as the calamity it was raised to answer, and the Ultima Founding that supplied its Primaris strength.
