Indomitus Crusade Fleet Sextus
The Indomitus Crusade Fleet Sextus is one of the numbered battlefleets of the Indomitus Crusade, Roboute Guilliman’s M42 relief campaign from Terra. It was mustered in the wake of Guilliman’s return from centuries of stasis and the opening of the Cicatrix Maledictum, the warp rift that sundered the Imperium into the Nihilus and Sanctus domains. Dispatched from the Sol System alongside the crusade’s other named fleets, Fleet Sextus formed part of the wider effort to carry aid, reinforcement, and the newly created Primaris Space Marines to sectors cut off by the rift and beset by fresh incursions of Chaos, xenos, and rebellion. As with the Indomitus Crusade’s other numbered formations, Fleet Sextus is recorded as a composite force rather than a single institution: elements of the Adeptus Astartes, including Primaris reinforcements drawn from the Ultima founding, sailed alongside Astra Militarum regiments, Adeptus Mechanicus explorator and skitarii contingents, and Imperial Navy escorts. Its course carried it through one of the crusade’s principal fronts along the boundary between the Imperium Sanctus and the Imperium Nihilus, where such fleets worked to relieve besieged worlds, re-establish Astronomican relay points, and restore the Imperial Creed’s authority in systems left leaderless by the Noctis Aeterna. Accounts of its specific engagements are sparser than those of the crusade’s most celebrated fleets, and later tradition holds only the broad shape of its campaign rather than a full register of battles. Fleet Sextus operated as a contemporary of the crusade’s other named formations under Guilliman’s overall direction, its fortunes bound to the same strategic aims that shaped the Indomitus Crusade as a whole. As the crusade’s formal muster wound down, its surviving elements are understood, like those of comparable fleets, to have been folded into standing garrisons and regional defence forces rather than stood down outright, leaving a lasting Imperial presence in the sectors it helped secure. Its record remains tied to Terra as its point of departure and to the Indomitus Crusade as the campaign that defines its place in the Imperium’s post-Rift history.
