Nineteenth Founding
The Nineteenth Founding is one of the numbered creations of new Space Marine Chapters ordered by the Adeptus Terra, its exact date unrecorded. Like the other Foundings that followed the Second Founding’s division of the original Legions into smaller Chapters under the Codex Astartes, it was authorised from Terra, where the Adeptus Terra and Adeptus Mechanicus drew gene-seed from an established Chapter to raise a fresh formation, granted its own name, heraldry, and world of recruitment before being committed to the Imperium’s wars. Among the Chapters accounts attribute to this Founding is the Genesis Chapter, raised from Ultramarines gene-seed and deployed against Ork incursions soon after its creation. The campaign proved costly: the Chapter is recorded as having been reduced far below fighting strength, its survivors later reconstituted rather than declared Excommunicate or struck from the rolls, a fate distinct from Chapters lost outright in their early trials. Details of the Founding’s other creations are sparser, consistent with the uneven record-keeping that surrounds many of the numbered Foundings beyond the well-documented First and Second. In the current era, the Nineteenth Founding is remembered chiefly through the Chapters it produced rather than as a single dated event, its Chapters continuing to serve alongside older First and Second Founding formations. Its place in Imperial administrative history ties it to Terra as the seat from which the Adeptus Terra authorises the creation, renaming, and disbandment of Space Marine Chapters, a process that remains part of the Imperium’s broader military chronology.
