Shebol Red-Hand

Magister, Lord of the Charismites

Also known as Shebol, Red-Hand

Shebol Red-Hand was a Chaos Magister whose Charismites warband nearly broke Warmaster Slaydo’s opening assault on Formal Prime. Operating with cult fanatics bound to him by charismatic authority rather than formal rite, he turned the planet’s hive warrens into a killing ground that tested the Imperial Guard’s resolve from the campaign’s first hours.

Within the warrens, Shebol’s followers exacted a toll of some two hundred Guardsmen for every metre of tunnel surrendered, a rate of attrition that stalled Slaydo’s advance until the White Scars were committed to break the stand. Charismites taken in the fighting were executed on crosses as a warning to the warband’s remnant, yet Shebol himself escaped the collapse of his position and withdrew from Formal Prime.

He resurfaced in the Crusade’s later flank wars, serving under Urlock Gaur as a field commander within the Chaos forces opposing the Sabbat Worlds offensive. Accounts of this period are sparser than those of Formal Prime, but his survival and continued command mark him as one of the more durable magisters to serve under Gaur in these years.

Shebol’s career ended on Khan III in 773.M41, where Lord General Bulledin’s forces pinned the Red-Hand and his followers in the planet’s highlands. Accounts differ as to whether Bulledin delivered the killing stroke himself or whether it fell to the Silver Guard at his side; either way, Shebol Red-Hand died in that action, and no further activity is recorded for him thereafter.
