Lheorvine Ukris

Lheorvine Ukris, called Firefist, was a World Eaters centurion of the 50th Heavy Support and a founding lieutenant of the Black Legion. He is recorded chiefly as a heavy-support commander of the XII Legion during the Horus Heresy, and later as one of the officers present when the Black Legion was assembled from the survivors of several broken warbands. His career spans both the Great Crusade-to-Heresy era and the long aftermath of the Scouring, which is why the entry is placed in both periods on the timeline. Homeworld and pre-Legion origins are not recorded.

During the Heresy, Ukris is placed on Prospero, where he is recorded as having dragged Iskandar Khayon off the floor, an act that established a bond between the two officers that persisted for the rest of his life. At Terra, a plasma cannon burned both of his arms to the elbow, and he took no part in the remainder of the Siege of Terra. The injury made the nickname Firefist a sensitive one; accounts indicate he could not prevent others from continuing to use it. After the fighting at Skalathrax, about fifty warriors remained under his command. That remnant became known as the Fifteen Fangs.

After the Heresy, Ukris joined Falkus Kibre and Khayon in seeking out Ezekyle Abaddon and the Vengeful Spirit, capturing Telemachon Lyras on the way. The group took part in the founding of the Black Legion amid the wreckage of Harmony, where a clone of Horus very nearly destroyed his remnant force. On the map, the relevant anchors are Prospero and Terra for the Heresy, Skalathrax and Harmony for the transition to the Black Legion, and the Eye of Terror as the region within which that Legion’s early history is set. His close contemporaries in this account are Khayon and Kibre, with Abaddon as the figure around whom the founding gathered.

Khayon reports that Mackan killed Ukris during the Seventh Black Crusade, and no independent account of his death is recorded, so the circumstances remain attested by a single witness. His significance lies less in any individual victory than in the continuity he represents: an officer of the World Eaters heavy-support arm who carried a surviving warband from the Heresy into the earliest days of the Black Legion.
