M’kar

M’kar is a Daemon Prince of Chaos recorded in connection with the Wars of Ultramar, the conflicts fought over the Ultramarines’ domain. As a Daemon Prince he is a mortal servant of the Ruinous Powers who has been raised to daemonic form, and he therefore stands outside the Imperium of Man as an enemy of the Ultramarines and the realm they govern.

Ultramar is the fief of the Ultramarines in the Segmentum Ultima, governed from Macragge, the Chapter’s homeworld and the seat of the Five Hundred Worlds. The Wars of Ultramar are the campaigns in which forces hostile to that realm were met by the Chapter and its allies, and M’kar is recorded among the Chaos leaders opposed to it. Accounts of his origin, former allegiance within the Traitor forces, patron power and personal following are sparse, and this entry does not supply details that are not attested. His relationships with other named commanders on either side are likewise not firmly recorded.

M’kar’s significance lies in his place among the Chaos threats that have tested the eastern marches of the Imperium, in the region centred on Macragge. His present status is best read as that of a daemonic entity whose survival or destruction is not established, which is consistent with the nature of Daemon Princes.
