Leandros

Chaplain

Also known as Chaplain Leandros

Homeworld: Macragge

Leandros is the Chaplain of the Ultramarines Second Company, remembered chiefly for reporting Captain Titus to the Inquisition following the campaign on Graia. Titus had once been his commanding officer, and Sergeant Sidonus stood beside them both during that same campaign; Leandros’s testimony ended Titus’s active service in the Chapter until his eventual reinstatement to lead the Second Company anew. Leandros now wears the skull helm of his office, and his continuing judgement of Titus’s fitness bears directly on whether the captain is ever fully restored to the Chapter’s trust. The dispute between them is doctrinal as much as personal: Leandros holds that the Codex Astartes is a constraint that keeps the Chapter human, while Titus maintains that Leandros wielded it as a snare to entrap him.

During the Recidious campaign, Leandros, by then serving as Chaplain, ordered the returned lieutenant to conceal the loss of a missing century and to report instead to Acheran, a decision that placed Chapter cohesion above full disclosure. He also told Titus that, if redemption carried any meaning for a Space Marine, it lay within the Chapter itself and not within the Deathwatch, where Titus had served his sentence. Both statements were accurate on their own terms, yet neither brought the two men to reconciliation; the exchange instead set the tone for their continued wariness of one another as the Second Company returned to active deployment.

Macragge, the Ultramarines’ homeworld, maintains a chaplaincy of unflinching resolve, and Leandros holds that office with a personal history attached to it that few of his brethren share. The Second Company he once helped remove from Titus’s command now fights under the very man he condemned, a reversal that places Leandros in the singular position of policing a captain he reported and then watched return. He has assigned himself the duty of observing Titus in the field, a role answering to no explicit Chapter mandate, and record places him afterward at Kadaku and Demerium as well as at Graia, though the particulars of those postings are not established beyond his presence there.

Leandros’s story is inseparable from that of Titus and, more distantly, of Sidonus, whose own fate was decided on the battlefield during the Graia campaign while Leandros’s judgement of Titus has instead been tested repeatedly in councils and campaigns long afterward. As Chaplain of the Second Company in the present era, Leandros stands as both witness and unresolved accuser within one of the more closely watched command relationships in the Ultramarines Chapter.
