Nykona Sharrowkyn

Nykona Sharrowkyn was a Shadow Captain of the Raven Guard, the XIX Legion, recorded among its surviving commanders during the Horus Heresy. The rank of Shadow Captain belongs to the Legion’s officers of reconnaissance and concealed assault, who lead the strike forces that define Raven Guard doctrine. Sharrowkyn is not to be confused with Kayvaan Shrike, the later Shadow Captain who became Chapter Master in the 41st Millennium.

Sharrowkyn’s career is recorded chiefly through the aftermath of the Isstvan V Dropsite Massacre, where the Legion under Corvus Corax was reduced to a remnant alongside the Iron Hands and Salamanders. Among the companies that survived, Sharrowkyn is named as one of the commanders who harried Traitor supply lines and picked apart isolated garrisons across contested space, working in the dispersed, low-signature manner that Corax had set down as his Legion’s method. Corax meanwhile made for Terra, and he stood at the Imperial Palace during the Siege in an advisory role rather than as a commander on the walls. Accounts differ on the finer details of Sharrowkyn’s individual engagements, and no birthplace or recruitment world is securely attested; the Legion’s home at Deliverance, the moon-fortress that trained its warriors, is the natural anchor for the Legion’s recruits and is used here as the homeworld.

Sharrowkyn’s standing rests on this place among the officers who kept the Raven Guard in the field after Isstvan V, at a time when the Legion was rebuilding by slower and more orthodox means. Contemporaries in the same window include Corvus Corax, Ferrus Manus and Vulkan at Isstvan V, and the Alpha Legion and Night Lords forces whose ambush shaped the Raven Guard’s lasting enmity. No confirmed record of Sharrowkyn’s fate after the Heresy is held on this site, so the status is given as unknown rather than supplied by conjecture.
