Julius Kaesoron

Julius Kaesoron was First Captain of the Emperor’s Children Legion who, after the Isstvan massacre, became a Noise Marine and later a daemon prince. The son of a noble family, he originally pursued the ideal of perfection set out by the primarch Fulgrim. The events at Isstvan altered that pursuit and gave it a different, religious character.

At the Isstvan dropsite, Kaesoron killed Iron Hands warriors and took trophies from men who had been fellow Space Marines shortly before. He also came to treat sound as a weapon rather than as music, the practice that defines a Noise Marine. When Santor found him, he was serving as a Kakophoni in place of a First Captain, and he screamed through the massacre instead of commanding it. Slaanesh, the Chaos power to which the Legion turned, favoured his conversion and denied him a clean death. He returned from the Eye of Terror as a daemon prince and retained his original name.

Kaesoron’s career passed through three stages. Chemos produced a duellist, Fulgrim produced a courtier, and the dropsite produced a Noise Marine. Some ten millennia later the courtier has disappeared and sound has become central to his character. Kaesoron continues to serve perfection as an aim, but he no longer understands the term as he did when he was First Captain.
