Nykona

Nykona is the given name of Nykona Sharrowkyn, a Shadow Captain of the Raven Guard, the XIX Legion, recorded among its commanders during the Horus Heresy. The rank of Shadow Captain belongs to the Legion’s officers of reconnaissance and concealed assault, who lead the strike forces that define Raven Guard doctrine. No birthplace or recruitment world is securely attested; Deliverance, the moon-fortress where the Legion trained its warriors, is used here as the homeworld.

Nykona’s career is recorded chiefly through the aftermath of the Isstvan V Dropsite Massacre, where the Raven Guard under Corvus Corax were reduced to a remnant alongside the Iron Hands and Salamanders. Among the companies that survived, Nykona is named as one of the commanders who harried Traitor supply lines and picked apart isolated garrisons across contested space, working in the dispersed, low-signature manner that Corax had set down as the Legion’s method. Corax himself made for Terra and stood at the Imperial Palace during the Siege in an advisory role. Accounts differ on the particulars of Nykona’s individual engagements, and no relationship to any named companion or rival is securely attested beyond service under the primarch.

Nykona’s standing rests on a place among the officers who kept the Raven Guard in the field after Isstvan V, while the Legion rebuilt by slower and more orthodox means.
