Holguin
Voted-Lieutenant of the Deathwing
Also known as Voted-Lieutenant of the Deathwing
Homeworld: Caliban
Holguin was the voted lieutenant of the Dark Angels Deathwing, a Terminator formation, during the Horus Heresy. His position corresponded to that of Redloss, who led the Legion’s destroyers. During the Heresy he served the Lion as the Legion’s principal heavy force, a role marked by Terminator armour, fixed resolve and the Inner Circle’s practice of treating a battlefield as a closed space. Corswain is described as the seneschal’s blade; Holguin was the force that held its ground.
He pursued Curze in the shadow of Ultramar and fought the kind of engagements for which the Deathwing was created. These were fought without witnesses or line of retreat, and with no regard for the renown that other Orders sought. The Lion required a lieutenant who did not question the elegance of a method, and Holguin raised no such question.
The later destruction of Caliban undermined the Legion’s certainty. Holguin’s record after the Siege is marked by the secrecy of the Inner Circle, so that his fate is unrecorded and may have been either death or confinement. The Deathwing continues to fight in a manner attributed to his standing orders, though whether he wrote them is not established.
