Asmodai is Master Interrogator-Chaplain of the Dark Angels, the priest whose crozius is a question and whose prisoners rarely like the answer. Repentance is the product. The Fallen are the raw material. He has made a career of not believing anyone the first time.

Azrael uses him because someone has to do the work the rest of the Inner Circle would rather file as rumour. He has broken men who thought loyalty was a shield, and he has been wrong often enough that even brothers keep a little distance.

Master of Repentance is not pastoral. It is a job title for the man who still thinks Caliban's wound can be talked out of people, one confession at a time.
