Marius Vairosean was captain of the Emperor's Children Third and the first Noise Marine, the Chemos officer who took Fulgrim's Kakophoni from a concert into a weapon and never came back down. Isstvan V was his unveiling. The sound did the killing his manners used to do.
On Iydris a deaf Morlock named Ignatius Numen ended him, an Iron Hand who could not hear the symphony and therefore could not be owned by it. Vairosean died as he had lived after the fall: too loud to notice the man with the boltgun.
The Kakophoni outlived their first captain, which is the point of a virus. Chemos had made a company commander. Slaanesh made a frequency. Numen, blessedly stone-deaf, made a corpse, and the Third kept screaming without him.
