As a Wolf Lord — a senior military commander ranking alongside the masters of the Chapter’s twelve Great Companies — he transformed the battlefield use of Fenrisian wolves from a regional curiosity into an established tactical doctrine. On campaign, Harald advances directly alongside these lupine packs, directing them with the discipline and coordination of an officer corps rather than treating them as feral auxiliaries.

Harald’s martial approach is exemplified by his appointment of Canis Wolfborn, a warrior reared by wolves on Fenris before his induction into the Chapter, as his personal champion. Rather than treating Wolfborn as an ornamental curiosity, Harald draws on the champion’s feral upbringing as an operative combat method, pairing him with the Thunderwolf packs he has spent his career training and fielding. The Deathwolves conduct mounted hunting operations across diverse theatres, including planetary ice sheets and shipboard void engagements, having overcome the initial scepticism of rival Great Companies through the plain battlefield efficacy of their mounted charges.
