Grimnir Blackblood
Huscarl of the Einherjar
Also known as Blackblood
Homeworld: Fenris
Grimnir Blackblood was a Fenrisian huscarl of Leman Russ’s Einherjar who fought at Alaxxes and Trisolian and helped carry Russ when he could no longer stand. He treated the primarch as a packmate rather than as a remote superior.
The ambush at Alaxxes threatened the destruction of the fleet, and the slaughter at Trisolian threatened the death of the primarch. Blackblood took part in both engagements. At Trisolian, he helped haul the Wolf King out of the ruin once Russ could no longer stand unaided. No saga of his own is recorded, and his role there is known chiefly through this act of carrying.
Blackblood survived. His standing rests on that service rather than on any tradition of glory: an Einherjar who refused to leave his king on the ice. Fenris preserves no date for his death, and accounts of the Rout seldom name those who brought the wounded home.
