Krom Dragongaze

Krom Dragongaze is Wolf Lord of the Drakeslayers, a Fenrisian commander of the Space Wolves noted for a combative temperament and preference for direct battle. His temper presents a difficulty for the Chapter, though Logan Grimnar, the Great Wolf, has not formally censured him. Krom favours the engagement immediately before him and shows little inclination towards diplomacy.

The Drakeslayers carry this temperament into the line of battle and describe it as honesty. Krom has on more than one occasion come close to breaking with the Great Wolf, but he has remained in his service. A Wolf Lord without a Great Wolf commands only a warband, and his continued allegiance is regarded as an exercise of discipline.

Fenris produces jarls of this kind deliberately. The Allfather, as the Space Wolves call the Emperor of Mankind, was served by executioners who were never intended to be gentle. Krom represents the result when that training takes strong effect, and the remainder of the Chapter must accommodate it.
