Fel Zharost

Fel Zharost was Chief Librarian of the Night Lords Legion, a Nostraman who refused to follow the primarch Curze into the Horus Heresy. The Chief Librarian is the senior psychic officer of a Legion. In the Night Lords, Curze’s deteriorating mental state and the Edict of Nikaea, which restricted psychic practice within the Legions, made that office perilous.

Malcador the Sigillite recruited Zharost regardless. A Nostraman who had already rejected the Eighth Legion suited the covert instruments that Malcador preferred. Zharost adopted grey and pursued former Legion brothers who had turned their psychic gifts to Chaos. The Knights-Errant offered him a campaign outside Curze’s theatre of war, and he accepted. Night Lords who remained loyal to the Legion resented his departure, while those who had become sorcerers resented his return under a warrant.

Nostramo taught Zharost to regard justice as a story told by criminals, and service to the Sigillite taught him to treat it as a list of names. He is numbered among those who might have become a Grey Knight. The Night Lords remember him as the Librarian who left the Legion first.
