Revuel Arvida

Revuel Arvida was a Thousand Sons sergeant who, after a ritual on Terra, became Janus, the first Supreme Grand Master of the Grey Knights. He served in the Thousand Sons’ Fourth Fellowship, and this record uses the Thousand Sons name because the later transformation did not erase the sergeant.

After Prospero, Arvida travelled with the White Scars. He repeated the phrase “all is dust” as a safeguard against a change that had already begun in him. He was a refugee in red armour, attempting to remain a man while the actions of the Wolves and the influence of the warp worked against that aim.

On Terra, a ritual performed by Malcador the Sigillite fused Arvida with a shard of Magnus. The being that emerged took the name Janus and afterwards held the office of first Supreme Grand Master of the Grey Knights. Arvida had asked to remain himself, but the Sigillite required a weapon capable of hunting what Arvida had fled. Histories generally record the outcome under the name Janus; Revuel Arvida is the individual who bore its cost, and the phrase he repeated survives in the title.
