Hastur Sejanus

Hastur Sejanus was captain of the Luna Wolves Fourth Company and a Mournival voice Horus actually liked. He died on Sixty-Three Nineteen in the speartip against the False Emperor, which is the only reason the later war had a hole shaped exactly like a reasonable man. Abaddon, Aximand, Torgaddon and Loken had to do the arguing without him.

Erebus wore his face to get onto Davin's moon and start the wound that made a Warmaster. That theft is Sejanus's other death: first the body on a wall, then the name used as a key. The Mournival never quite recovered the habit of listening once the borrowed face had done its work.

Cthonia rarely produces captains other Legions describe as decent. Sejanus was one, which is why Horus mourned him in public and why Chaos found the likeness useful. The Fourth Company kept the number. It did not keep the man.
